TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Syihab reportedly will return to Indonesia before the organization’s birthday on August 17.
“Efforts are being made by lawyers particularly from the GNPF MUI [National Movement to Safeguard Indonesian Ulema Council Fatwa] to bring Habib Rizieq back immediately before the FPI’s birthday,” FPI spokesman Slamet Maarif said.

Rizieq will return home if the police can assure his security and drop criminal charges against him, Slamet said.
Slamet said that the organization will celebrate its birthday in Petamburan, Jakarta.
Rizieq Syihab is currently in Saudi Arabia. He has been named as a suspect in a pornography case. The police have placed him on the most wanted list.
