TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police raided a rice warehouse that allegedly sold low-quality rice and then sold it for a high price due to it's nice packaging.

The raid by the Food Control Task Force team on the PT Indo Beras Unggul or PT IBU Rice Factory created a polemic. The allegations posted by a team consisting of the Ministry of Agriculture, the police and the Business Competition Supervisory Commission were denied by the Indo Beras parent company, PT Tiga Pilar Sejahtera Food (TPSF) Tbk.

Apart from the investigation of the case, people need to know how to differentiate premium quality rice from low quality rice. There are no striking differences between premium and medium rice visually. Differences will be seen when two types of rice are directly put next to each other and examined. Here are the differences between premium and low quality rice:

Premium Quality Rice:

1. Bright white colour

2. More expensive price

3. The amount of rice which breaks is not more than 5 percent

4. The rice grains are not mixed with dirt, rock, and other grains

5. After the rice is cooked, it is fluffy

Low Quality Rice:

1. Colours are more dull

2. Cheaper price

3. The amount of rice that breaks is more than 10 percent

4. The rice is mixed with dirt, stones, or grain

5. After the rice is cooked, it will be a little hard
