TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Executive Board of Nahdatul Ulama (PBNU) said it fully backs up the government in issuing the Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) on mass organizations No. 2 of 2017 to defend the state ideology Pancasila and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

"Kiai (clerics) and ulemas of NU have from the beginning been well aware of Khilafah and politics, therefore, they prioritize the interest of humanity in general, the interest of nation and the country and agree to prioritize on Pancasila and the national integrity," Samsul Maarif from the PBNU Dakwah institute of Central Java, said on Sunday.

He said NU, the countrys largest non political Islamic organization, has always given priority to the interest of the people in general, therefore, supported the government steps in issuing Perpu No. 2 of 2017.

"If NU did not support Perpu No.2 of 2017 and anti Pancasila ideology would grow and enter university campuses, it would not be impossible that NKRI would be split," he said.

NU Kiai and Ulemas are ready to stand as shield in defending for Pancasila and NKRI, he said.

On Saturday, the youth organization of NU, GP Ansor, voiced similar support for the Perpu the government decision to dissolve Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) to protect the national integrity.

HTI has a mission in contrary to the national system of administration, secretary of GP Ansor Adung Abdulrahman said in the West Java capital of Bandung.

"GP Ansor supports the government decision to issue Perpu as we have long seen a number of mass organizations like HTI which has an agenda to establish a state different from what we already have. They have a mission and dream to reestablish a caliphate," Adung said when attending the ceremony of the installation of GP Ansor branch in Bandung.

He said HTI activities could trigger conflict and civil war disrupting national development program.

He dismissed suggestion that Perpu is against Islam, but whoever is anti Pancasila has to be dissolved as Ansor and Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) played a big role in establishing the nation based on Pancasila.

He said GP Ansor is not against the dakwah of HTI, but would oppose any attempt to change Pancasila and disrupt the NKRI.

He said Pancasila has proved effective in maintaining peace and create harmony.

The government announced dissolution of HTI last week after issuing the Perpu on mass organizations earlier this month.
