57 Journalists Receive Press Card from Press Council

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 57 journalists from regions across in Indonesia received an award from Press Council in the form of Competence Certificate and Press Card.

"These journalists have served for 30 years and the youngest of these journalists is 55 years old," Press Council chairman Yosep Stanley Adi Prasetyo said in Jakarta on Friday, July 14.

He explained that Press Council has given privileges to the 57 awardees for their dedication in journalism. "They originated from Aceh to Papua, chosen from the total of 47,000 media in Indonesia," he added.

Yosep explained that the award in the form of certificates and press card based on dedication is only granted this until 2017. "Next year all journalists have to undergo competency testing," he said later.

"With the certificate and the press card, the journalists are expected to maintain the freedom of press responsibly," Yosep stated.
