TEMPO.CO, Medan - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale hit Samosir district in North Sumatra province on Tuesday morning.
The epicenter of the quake which struck at 08:24 a.m. local time was located eight kilometers northeast of Samosir sea at a depth of 152 kilometers, the head of data and information section of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) office in Medan, Syahnan said.

There was no immediate report of casualties or material damage.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 is considered moderate and capable of causing considerable damage.
