TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Persib Bandung lost 3-1 to Madura United (MU) at Gelora Ratu Pamelingan Stadium in Liga 1 last night. Peter Odemwingie scored two goals for MU and Greg Nwokolo had one. Persib scored through Raphael Maitimo.

Persib Bandung had two goals ruled out in the match. Coach Djadjang Nurdjaman said he was disappointed with the performance of referee Kusni. “Bobotoh [Persib fans] can also see how the referee [performed]; two of our goals were disallowed, it affected the team,” said Nurdjaman.

Two Persib goals scored by Rafael Maitimo and Michael Essien in the first half were disallowed by the official. Referee Kusni canceled Maitimo’s goal for offside even though replays showed otherwise.

“Will a protest be lodged? It depends on the management. I’m disappointed, that’s for sure,” Djadjang said.

Persib winger Atep said that the incident did affect the mentality of the Maung Bandung players. The disallowed goal should have seen the team equalize after MU led via Peter Odemwingie’s penalty.

After Maitimo’s non-goal, Persib Bandung players had tried to protest by stop playing for two minutes. But referee Kusni did not budge. Persib players were disheartened but the game must continue.

Aside from the players, Persib manager Umuh Muhtar also made a protest. On the sideline, Umuh screamed at MU manager: “Haruna… Haruna… what did you do to the ref?” Umuh said.

Having heard the screaming, MU manager Haruna approached Persib Bandung bench and had an exchange with Umuh during the Liga 1.
