TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Unlike cow milk or goat milk, camel milk is hard to come by. However, despite the scarcity, more people are hunting for camel milk since it offers several health benefits. Experts claim that camel milk contains good substances for people with autism, cancer and diabetes.
Camel milk is easier to digest compared to cow milk, so it is good for those who are lactose intolerant. The only drawback is it is imported and that makes it costly.
"Research reveals that camel milk consumption can increase the production of antioxidant enzymes and as a result it reduces oxidative pressure in the body," diet expert of Ohio State University Werner Lori Chong said to Live Science.
Another research published in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice mentioned that camel milk is good for people with type 1 Diabetes since it contains A2 beta casein and it is low fat. In addition, camel milk is also low in cholesterol and carbohydrate. Albert Einstein College of Medicine lecturer Keith-Thomas Ayoob said that camel milk contains higher iron and vitamin C than cow milk.
