5000 Newcomers Arrive in S. Tangerang After Eid, Looking for Jobs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many 5000 people came to settle in South Tangerang city after Eid. The newcomers are looking for jobs as construction workers, traders and other professions.
South Tangerang Municipal Vital Statistic and Demography Agency head Toto Sudarto mentioned that newcomers looking for a job arrived in South Tangerang fter Eid holiday and they are from different parts of Indonesia.
"Just like any other newcomers, they are mostly traders, construction workers, housemaids, teachers or other professions. We expect that those who come to South Tangerang are skilled ones," Toto explained on Saturday (8/7).
Based on his data, the number of non-permanent newcomers coming after Eid holiday was two to five thousand people.
He also admitted that the number of new residents from other cities or regencies to South Tangerang increases by the day. The number of ID applicants is much higher that he number of South Tangerang residents who are moving out.
"In average, 500 people move in to South Tangerang every month yet the residents who move out of South Tangerang are much less, not even half the number of newcomers," he added.
