TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) commissionaire Natalius Pigai is concerned about a move made by House of Representatives (DPR) Inquiry committee (Pansus) on the execution of duties and authorities of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) by visiting corruption convicts in Sukamiskin Correction facility in Bandung.
Such a move, Natalius explained, is considered heating up the relationship between DPR dan KPK.

“Such an action is malignant because there is a tendency to weaken anti-corruption commission,” Natalius said on Saturday (8/7).
Natalius continued that Indonesians should condemn the legislative body since they have committed contempt of court. This is ironic, he added, since millions of people are still on the poverty line due to corruption.
“Many people scream, beg and get unemployed because the people’s money is stolen by a group of oligarchy who are corrupt, commit bribery and commit in influences,” Natalius said.
Through Komnas HAM, Natalius asked KPK not to wait on the debate that is considered unnecessary with the members of the House Special Committee. According to Natalius, it is better for the KPK to work quickly to solve the case of E-KTP. As a judicial institution, said Natalius, KPK should not be defensive by serving through a statement. But it must be answered by decision, just like the judicial institution (silence corps).

"Without intending to intervene, we believe that if the KPK immediately determines the suspects and detain the witnesses of E-KTP corruption cases then the people will definitely support the KPK," said Natalius.
According to Natalius, with the movement then public confidence in the KPK will be high. In addition, the existence of the KPK will not be tampered with, while the legislature will not get public support.
