Jokowi Urges Trump To Anticipate Terrorism Outside Iraq and Syria

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - During his meeting with the United States of America President Donald Trump in G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany, President Jokowi appreciated the US commitment in fighting against terrorism. Jokowi is convinced that the US keeps on combating against terrorism without turning hostile toward Islam.
Such an attitude, Jokowi continued, is in accordance to the results of Riyadh Summit held last May attended by both leaders. Meanwhile, Jokowi expressed that other countries should be cautious of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after their less frequent movements in both countries of Iraq and Syria.

“Including South East Asia, the attack and occupation of terrorist groups in Marawi, the Philippines is a solid proof of the increasing threat of terrorism,” Jokowi explained on Saturday(8/7).
Jokowi expects that Indonesia and the USA can work together to fight against terrorism. Some of the means are by exchanging intelligent information, cutting down the flow of fund, empowering moderate community and spreading counter narratives. He also expressed that deradicalization program in Indonesia has proven effective to counter terrorism and he invited Trump to visit Indonesia.
