TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police stated that the number of accidents during 2017 Eid homecoming period dropped significantly compared to that of last year.
Until four days after Eid or Thursday (29/6), there were 1.764 accidents with 391 dead victims, 449 severely injured victims and 2,101 slightly injured casualties.

National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian revealed that the highest drop of traffic accident rate is in West Java.
"It plummeted down to 47 percent," he said in Bandung on Saturday (1/7).
The overall number of fatalities also dramatically decreased to 68 percent.
Tito also claimed that the Eid homecoming flow this year went far better than last year.
"Unlike last year, heavy congestion on Brebes exit toll gate did not happen," he added.
This, he said, is due to the launch of Brebes Timur-Gringsing functional toll in Batang, Central Java. In addition, the government also builds a flyovers in a number of lanes vulnerable to traffic jam during the homecoming.
