TEMPO.CO, Magelang - Former president of the United States Barack Obama and his family yesterday visited Borobudur Temple in Magelang Regency, Central Java, for vacation. They earlier spent six days in Bali.
Obama and his family arrived at Borobudur Temple at 4:35 pm local time. They reached the summit of the temple before descending at 5:18 pm.

Borobudur Temple Tourism Park president director Edy Setijono who accompanied Obama said that the former US president was impressed with the Buddhist temple that exists in a Muslim-majority country and is well-maintained.
“Obama was very impressed. It’s his second visit. When he was a little boy, he visited Borobudur and now he came back with his family. It’s very beautiful and is a symbol of tolerance,” Edy said yesterday.

Obama visited Borobudur Temple as he spends his vacation in Yogyakarta from June 28 to 30.
Edy expects the former US president’s visit to the temple will boost local tourism. He said that Obama’s visit shows that Borobudur Temple is a safe place to go.
