TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat together with Jakarta Officials visited Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta to commemorate the 490th anniversary of the Capital.
Djarot highlighted that the visit was important for Jakarta administration officials, so that they can understand and be informed about the city’s history, particularly the integrity of the founders who establish the foundation of the Jakarta administration.
“Therefore, the officials will be more motivated and to have integrity in delivering public services,” Djarot said on Friday, June 16, 2017.
Djarot pointed out that the Jakarta administration has a mission to serve residents in Jakarta. Based on the track records of the founders of Jakarta, Djarot hopes that the Capital can be free of corruption.
“You can see their grandchildren are living a simple life. They reflect Jakarta officials in the past,” he said.
Before Democracy, Djarot revealed, Jakarta governor and mayors were appointed by the central government to serve as President’s aides. Therefore, the Jakarta governor was on the same level as a Minister, which is why it is called the Special Capital Region (DKI).
