BPS deputy for social statistics Sairi Hasbullah said that non-oil and gas exports increased by 20.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

“Non-oil and gas exports from January to May reached US$61.98 billion, a 20.10 increase from the previous period. The highest contribution came from fats and vegetable oils i.e. CPO amounting to US$9.93 billion or 16.02 percent,” Sairi told a press conference yesterday, June 15.

Meanwhile, the value of Indonesia’s exports in May increased by 7.62 percent on a month-on-month basis, the BPS said. Sairi said that the total value of exports currently stands at US$14.29 billion compared to April of US$13.28 billion. On the occasion, he also said that Indonesia’s overall exports from January to May was US$68.26 billion or a 19.93 percent increase compared to the same period in 2016.

“It indicates that our export performance is more consistent compared to our export performance last year in the same period. We expect that the rest of 2017 to always see higher export figures compared to 2016.
