TEMPO.CO, Paris - Asgardia will be the first space nation that mankind plans to construct. Half a million of earthlings have registered themselves to be citizens of the space nation.
Public's enthusiasm forced Asgardia management to change the constitution of citizen selection since a group of Russian billionaires and French scientists announced the idea in October 2016.
Currently, the space nation management has adopted a stricter and selective way to recruit their future citizens, as quoted from asgardia.space. Asgardia refuses to provide citizenship for people who provide very limited access to their personal information. It also bans non-human entities such as robot and animals.
The space nation is already close to verifying more than 200,000 candidates that will receive the Asgardia Certificate in the future. Each Asgardian, the call of its citizen, will be asked to provide their votes in order to formulate an inaugural space nation constitution that will be the basic constitution.
In October 2016, Asgardian project leaders met to discuss the future habitat that could accommodate 150 million people at a press conference in France. The first Asgardian satellite is scheduled to be launched this year, the start of a long-term project.
Asgardia was named after one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology and the home and fortress of the Aesir. According to the project leader and concept originator, Igor Ashurbeyli, this new human space habitat will be a democratic location.
Ashurbeyli is a scientist that established Socium Holding. Asgardia is one of the company’s projects that has more than 10,000 employees from 30 companies worldwide.
People can access their official web page Asgardia.space and become one of 100,000 first settlers.
“Asgardia is a limitless reflection of the earth in space. No religious and state border disputes, just as an independent individual that doesn’t represent any country,” said Ashurbeyli.
