TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The demand for car rental service will likely increase ahead of Eid al-Fitr holidays. A transportation service business TRAC-Astra Rent a Car is experiencing this issue.
Since last week, the car rental business only has 20 percent fleet left available for rent. From 1,000 units, there were only 200 cars left for rent.
Chief Operation Officer for TRAC-Astra Rent a Car, Jacob Anthonius Margareta, revealed that 2017 saw an increase in demand. However, adding the number of fleets in this type of business is considered to be risky because demands only drastically rise during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
“The unit can’t be added for Eid al-Fitr because the demands will drastically go down after the holidays,” said Jacob on Tuesday, June 13.
He explained that out of 1,000 units available, 400 of them are spread for inner-city Jakarta use, while the rest is spread across Indonesia’s eastern regions.
Almost 95 percent of the cars available are multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) since it has sufficient cabin capacity to be used for traveling long distances such as during the Eid homecoming.
