TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi does not expect to see any attempt to undermine the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“The KPK must be strong and the corruption eradication efforts must not slow down because the nation still needs extraordinary efforts to eradicate corruption,” the Jokowi told journalists today in the media room at the Presidential Palace.

Earlier, seven factions at the House of Representatives (DPR) have officially sent their members to join the special committee for the right of inquiry against the KPK, namely the factions of PDIP, Golkar Party, Hanura Party, the National Democrat Party, the PPP, Gerindra Party and PAN.
The KPK has questioned the validity of the right of inquiry because Article 201 of Law on Legislative Bodies (MD3) holds that a right of inquiry committee must consist of members of all factions.
The right of inquiry special committee chairman Agun Gunanjar was named in the indictment in the electronic identity cards (e-KTP) graft case. The indictment said that Agun, then member of Commission II and House’s Budget Body, received 1 million US dollars.
The right of inquiry was suggested in a hearing between the KPK and the House’s Commission III in April because the former had refused to reveal the records of the questioning of former house member Miryam S Haryani in the e-KTP graft trial.
Meanwhile, in the e-KTP graft trial on March 30, KPK investigator Novel Baswedan said that Miryam was being intimidated by the Commission III members to deny trial facts and the distribution of money in the project budgeting.
