Abiding Indonesians in Saudi Arabia Urged to Join Amnesty Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Government urged overstayed and undocumented Indonesians in Saudi Arabia to join amnesty programthe best they can.
Foreign Affairs Ministry’s head of Sub Directorate of Region II GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and Europe Arief Hidayat said that the period of amnesty is only 90 days starting from 29 March 2017 to 24 June 2017.

"After the program ends, Saudi Arabian government will enact law enforcement by arresting or carrying out raids for foreign immigrants," Arief explained on Saturday (10/6).
The arrest also applies to Indonesians who violate the regulations of immigration, labor and citizenship. The sanction is imprisonment in the immigration detention center, fine or deportation, Arief added.
Foreign Affairs Ministry has recorded that until 8 June 2017, 610,518 Indonesians reside in Saudi Arabia. Indonesian Embassy for Saudi Arabia collected data and 11,226 Indonesians are recorded to participate in the amnesty program. Out of the total amnesty participants, only 5,724 Indonesians return to Indonesia.
