Sheraton and Sofitel will build luxury hotels worth Rp400 billion and Rp418 billion, respectively. China Harbor Engineering Company will develop tourism potential and infrastructure in Tanjung Kelayang SEZ worth around Rp13.5 trillion.

Darmin Nasution said that the three investors will help promote Tanjung Kelayang SEZ. He expects more foreign tourists will visit the SEZ after the hotel construction, which is expected to attract local investors.

The government will also form an administrator for Tanjung Kelayang SEZ.

Tanjung Kelayang was named tourism SEZ on March 15. The area is built in phases and adopt heritage concept.

Darmin said that the SEZ in Belitung is being developed since the region is not connected to transportation networks such as Trans Sumatra toll road.
