TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A red notice can be handed to someone that is involved in any criminal case, including the FPI leader Rizieq Syihab who is charged with a pornography case. Former Deputy Secretary of the National Central Bureau (NCB) - Interpol Indonesia, Insp. Gen. Benny Mamoto revealed the statement.
“It isn’t limited to certain cases,” Benny said on Wednesday, June 7.
A Red Notice is a global Interpol request to find and temporarily detain someone that is considered to be involved in a criminal case. Rizieq Syihab himself is charged with Article, 4, 6, and 8 (44) in 2008 on Pornography.

Rizieq is currently staying in Saudi Arabia and shows no intention to travel back to Indonesia even though Jakarta Metro Police has included him in the most wanted list. The Jakarta Police has requested a red notice through the Indonesian National Police Force.
Benny explained that issuing a Red Notice is not an easy task. Investigators must first present the case to NCB Interpol Indonesia.
“It requires a complete identity, including the fingerprints, passport, birth location, and the blood type,” said Benny before adding that the location where the suspect is currently at must also be included.
Benny said that the process to obtain the information needs time that varies from each other.
The red notice will only be granted after NCB Interpol Indonesia has approved the proposal and has sent it to Interpol’s central headquarter in Lyon, France.
“Every state that works with Interpol must then follow-up on the request,” Benny explained. He added that Saudi Arabia has been listed as Interpol country member.
