TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani has met President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace to discuss the state budget (APBN).

“To report all development about the APBN” Sri Mulyani said today at the Presidential Palace compound in Jakarta. She did not explain further when pressed whether the 2017 state budget will be adjusted.

Last week after a limited meeting at the President’s Office, Minister Sri Mulyani was optimistic that Indonesia’s economy would improve this year. Accordingly, the government has set the target of 5.3 percent economic growth in the revised 2017 state budget. The figure is higher than the target set in 2017 state budget of 5.1 percent.

According to her, the target would be achieved if the economy grows higher in the second, third and fourth quarter. “It’s not an easy challenge,” Sri Mulyani said.

The Central Statistics Agency reports that Indonesia’s economy saw year-on-year (yoy) growth of 5.01 percent in the first quarter this year. The figure is higher compared to the first quarter of 2016 with 4.92 percent (yoy).
