TEMPO.CO, Palu - Two residents of Tolitoli Regent in Central Sulawesi Province reported dead due to flash floods that hit the area from Saturday afternoon (3/6).
"Based on the report we have, two residents died," Tolitoli Police chief AKBP Iqbal Alqudusy said on Sunday morning (4/6).
The victims who are from Tuweley subdistrict and Tambun sub district have been taken to Mokopido General Hopsital.
The flash floods on Saturday afternoon struck Tolitoli Regency because of heavy rain causing the overflow of Tuweley River, Lembah River, Dakitan River and Tambun River.
Dozens of houses were inundated in districts of Tuweley, Baru, Panasaka and Tambun. In addition, a number of houses were drifted away in Buntuna Village. Furthermore, the flash floods caused landslide to seven points of trans Sulawesi road track in Pandakian Pangi. This affected Palu-Tolitoli route. Local government, Tolitoli Police and local residents are trying to clear the route.
