TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia House of Representative (DPR) Speaker Setya Novanto urges ulema (Islamic leaders) and other social institutions to prevent the spread of radicalism on his Ramadan safari in Gresik on Friday, June 2.
"I urge Islamic teachers (kyai) and ulema in Gresik to guard the people against terrorist teaching," he said.
Setya Novanto believes that Islamic teachers and leaders are able to protect the people with their peaceful Islamic teaching. He also said that to prevent and counter terrorism, House of Representatives have coordinated with President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
"We have agreed to speed up drafting terrorism law. Terrorism counter is a joint effort," he added.
