TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government will be auctioning geothermal work areas in July following the issuance of a ministerial regulation on auction procedure.
Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry new renewable energy and energy conservation director-general Rida Mulyana said that the regulation is being finalized at the legal bureau.
He expects the auction to commence in June. The ministerial regulation also conforms to the government regulation on geothermal utilization.
On the same occasion, new renewable energy and energy conservation, geothermal director Yunus Saefulhak said that instead of electricity price, work programs and exploration commitment will be offered in the upcoming bid.
Five geothermal work areas will be auctioned with a total potential capacity of 330 megawatt (MW), namely Muara Bulung in Southeast Sulawesi with a potential capacity of 20 MW, Oka Illiange in West Nusa Tenggara with a potential capacity of 20 MW, Jailolo in North Maluku with a potential capacity of 60 MW, Simbolon Samosir in North Sumatra with a potential capacity of 220 MW and Sirung in Alor, East Nusa Tenggara with a potential capacity of 10 MW.
