TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public prosecutor of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Iskandar Marwanto is seeking six-year prison term and Rp500 million fine, with subsidiary sentences of 6 months, for Siti Fadilah Supari in a graft case in connection with a procurement of health device.
Iskandar said that the defendant Siti Fadilah is also charged with an additional penalty of compensation to the government amounting to Rp1.9 billion. Failing to pay such compensation, the defendant must have her property auctioned to cover the expense. The prosecutor said that she will be jailed for an additional one year if the value of her property was not sufficient to pay the compensation.
Prosecutors said that Siti has received Rp1.9 billion in the project that caused Rp6.148 billion in state losses.
After the trial hearing, Siti Fadilah denied accepting bribes in the project. The defendant said that the sentence request was not fair, adding that she will read aloud her closing argument in a trial session scheduled for next week.
