TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police on Wednesday, May 31, placed Rizieq Shihab on its most wanted list. The police have also issued an arrest warrant against him, one day after the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader was named a suspect in a pornography case.
"Today we have issued a most wanted list. Right now our investigators are having meetings at the Police Headquarters with the International Relations Division," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said in Jakarta.
Argo said the police follow procedures in placing Rizieq on its most wanted list. After naming him a suspect, investigators first came to Rizieq's house and made sure that the man was not there.
The police also visited the immigration office to inquire and seek information on Rizieq. "On April 26, he went overseas has not returned," Argo remarked. With the immigration data as a basis, the police then placed him on its most wanted list
The police suspect that Rizieq, who is also a suspect for the desecration of the state symbol in West Java, is in Saudi Arabia.
On Monday, Rizieq Syihab has been named a suspect and will be charged with the anti-pornography law.
Argo said investigators have collected enough evidence to name Rizieq a suspect, including the Whatsapp chat logs between two people, allegedly Rizieq and Firza Husein, the woman he is suspected of having an affair with.
The police have also issued a summons for Rizieq to be questioned as a witness in the pornography case. He had been summoned twice but has not come once.
