TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police has issued an arrest warrant for Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Syihab. According Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono, the warrant will be addressed to Rizieq’s residence in Central Jakarta.
“Investigators will fist go to [RIzieq’s] house. Then [they] will go the immigration office to find out about the suspect’s whereabouts,” Argo said today.
Argo said that the arrest warrant is a part of the procedure before issuing a red notice to the Interpol.
“So, this will be the base to issue a most wanted list (DPO). Investigators must follow these steps,” Argo explained.
Argo added that the Jakarta Police has sent a notification letter to begin an investigation (SPDP) into Rizieq’s case to the prosecutor’s office.
Earlier, the Jakarta Police has named Rizieq as a suspect in a case surrounding smartphone chats that contain pornographic materials allegedly took place between him and Firza Husein. The chats went viral on social media. Firza was named as a suspect before Rizieq.
