TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government is aiming to build 1,000 kilometers of toll road by 2019. The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry Deputy for Construction Business and Transportation Infrastructure Pontas Tambunan said that the 396-kilometer toll road is expected to be built this year.
"Some 65 kilometers of Trans Sumatra [toll road] is ready to operate, 210 kilometers of Trans Java and 11 kilometers of Becakayu toll road (Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu)," Pontas told a press conference in Jakarta yesterday, May 29.
Pontas is confident that the government can build beyond 1,000 kilometers of toll road by 2019. Similarly, state-owned construction company Waskita Karya CEO Muhammad Choliq said that some 1,300 kilometers of toll road can be completed by 2019.
Choliq said that the government is aiming to construct 400 kilometers of toll road by 2018. By 2019, a 500-kilometer toll road is expected to be built. "Add to around 400 kilometers in 2017, the total would be 1,300 by 2019," he said.
Data from the SOE Ministry shows that in 2017 the government expects to complete 17-km-long Medan-Binjai toll road (currently 62.2 percent complete), 98.5-km-long Parapat-Tebing Tinggi toll road and 22-km-long Palembang-Indralaya toll road (52.4 percent complete).
Trans Java includes 57.5-km-long Pejagan-Pemalang toll road (69.65 percent complete), 90.3-km-long Solo-Ngawi toll road (47.46 percent complete) and 36.3-km-long Surabaya-Mojokerto toll road (88.27 percent complete). Becakayu toll road is 21-km-long and 89.27 percent complete.
