TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) deputy chief Putu Elvina said that throughout 2016, KPAI reporting division received 930 direct complaints from the people on violations of children’s rights in the social field.
In 2017, around 400 acts of violations have been reported. The high number of cases urged KPAI to facilitate complaints by launching an application called "Pandawacare" as a follow up to the MoU between KPAI and Pandawacare to provide massive protection to children.
"If it is not done on a massive scale, a lot of children will not be able to retain their rights, receive services and get justice since nobody focuses on prevention and publication," Putu Elvina said in Central Jakarta on Friday, May 26.
Digital application "Pandawacare" can be downloaded through Android-based smartphones from Google Play Store. This app is designed with important features to support child protection including Monitoring, SOS Panic Button, Alarm, Hotline, Online Reporting, Online Counselling, and Child News Portal.
"The app is expected to receive reports and complaints from the society and it will serve as an evaluation media for KPAI to offer better services in monitoring and protecting children," Putu added.
