UK, Australia Issue Travel Advice Following Kampung Melayu Blasts

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The terror attack that took place at Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, on Wednesday evening May 24, drew international attention. Two explosions detonated by the suicide bomber killed 5 people while injuring another 10.
The United Kingdom and Australia immediately issued a travel advice for its citizens that are currently here in Indonesia or plans to travel to Indonesia. This issuance is one level under a travel warning status, which bans citizens to visit a certain country.
UK’s Foreign Affairs Ministry provided the complete map of the bombing incident at their official website.
Officials also reminded their citizens regarding Indonesia’s high level terrorist threats, and advised its citizens to stay alert, be extra cautious, and obey the instructions of local authorities.
The 280,000 UK citizens that visit Indonesia annually are also to avoid Kampung Melayu and its vicinity, up until police officially says that it’s completely safe.
Australian State officials have also released a similar travel advice for its citizens that are in Indonesia.
Australians that are currently in Indonesia are encouraged to identify locations or areas in Indonesia that might become potential targets for terrorist attacks.
