Jokowi, Said Agil Make Top 50 List of Most Influential Muslims

TEMPO.CO, Amman - Indonesian President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi, the Nahdltul Ulama chairman Said Agil Siraj and former Muhammadiyah executive board chairman Din Syamsuddin make top 50 list of world’s most influential Muslims according to the Royal Islam Strategic Studies Centre.
Jokowi stands in 13th position, Said Agil is 20th and Din Syamsuddin ranked 41st. Another Indonesian cleric Habib Luthfi Yahya was also named in the top 50 list at 45th position.
In its introduction, Royal Islam Strategic Studies Center explains that it has published the World’s Top 500 List of Most Influential Muslim since 2009.
The list comprises of 500 individuals from 13 professional backgrounds, namely clerics, politician, government officials for religious affairs, spiritual leaders, philanthropist, social activists, businessmen, artists and cultural observers, preachers, media workers, celebrities and sportsmen, as well as extremists.
Other individuals included in the list met the criteria of having the power to make significant changes to the Muslim world.
In the list of top 50 world’s most influential Muslims, every individual has their own short biography explaining their influence, success and unique features.
Jokowi’s ‘blusukan’ (impromptu visit) was mentioned in his biography, among others.
