TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industry Ministry has given its supports for domestic manufacture sector to achieve green industry and to establish new industries under the green industry principles.
Industry Ministry’s research and development head (BPPI) Haris Munandar said that the instrument utilized to assess a green-industry based company is the green industry standard.
“The use of low carbon technology is one of the principles of green industry supported by the implementation of 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, and return) and competent human resources. These will result in efficiency in materials, energy, and water,” Haris said in Jakarta on Friday, May 19.
Haris claimed that a number of green-technology based initiatives in the industrial sector have exerted positive impact especially in minimizing waste, cutting CO2 emission and reducing operational costs. As an example, cement industry using biomass as alternative fuel and vertical finish mill has lowered energy consumption.
The success in green industry development, Haris added, depends on the innovations generated by research and development division. Industrial agents are expected to identify knowledge and technology required to realize greener industry as input to research and development agencies in Industry Ministry.
In 2015, 56 percent of the results of research and development were applied by industries. In 2016, BPPI research and development generated 198 research and 86 research are planned to be conducted in 2017.
