TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A fire scorched ten rooms at Klender railway station in East Jakarta on Friday, May 19. The East Jakarta Fire Department head Gatot Sulaeman said the fire occurred at around 07:30 am.

"Currently, our officers are still in the location,” Gatot told Tempo via a telephone conversation this morning.

Gatot explained that ten rooms, which were located in the same building, were burned down. The rooms include storeroom, toilet, station head office, railway service room, ticketing locket, waiting room, security officer room, and server room.

"The fire was allegedly occurred due to a short circuit at the storeroom," he said. There is no casualty at the incident. “One officer, Riki Riana, 20-year-old, has injured her right hand," said Gatot.

The fire has hampered the train schedule. Vice President Corporate Communications of PT KCJ Eva Chairunissa extended her apology. The railway route of Bekasi-Manggarai and vice versa must be stopped for the mean time. "Currently, some train schedules are still being stopped," she said.

She suggested the passengers, who are in a rush, altering their transportation modes since the firefighters are still working to mitigate the fire. "We can refund the ticket at the closest station for those who already purchased but cannot continue the trip or arrive at the destination," said Eva.
