TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The IDX said that there were at least 35,000 new investors in the capital market as of mid-May. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Development Director Nicky Hogan said that as of the second week of May, the number of retail investors reached 570,000.
According to Nicky, the investors from Java make up 75 percent of the total investors.
This year, the IDX plans to attract 100,000 more investors or 20 percent of the number of retail investors in the capital market at 535,994. Nicky also expects retail investors to be more active in their transactions.
Moreover, the Indonesia Stock Exchange is also aiming to establish 60 investment galleries until the end of this year. The IDX currently has 264 galleries across the country.
