Lawyer : Firza Husein Questions Rizieq Shihab`s Whereabouts

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Amidst the investigation into smartphone chats containing pornographic materials allegedly took place between Firza Husein and Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Syihab, Aziz Yanuar, Firza’s lawyer, said that his client asked about Rizieq’s whereabouts.

According to Aziz, Firza’s curiosity is reasonable since Rizieq is her religious mentor.

“It’s normal for her to ask, it’s just a question,” Aziz explained yesterday.

Previously on Thursday, May 18, The Jakarta Police issued a travel ban against Firza who has been named as a suspect. Police said that the travel ban was necessary for investigation purposes.

“The Jakarta Police’s special crime investigation unit has imposed a six-month travel ban on suspect Firza Husein,” Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono yesterday.

Firza is currently facing charges in relation to smartphone chats containing pornographic materials with a male counterpart allegedly to be Rizieq. To this date, Rizieq has failed to answer two police summonses for questionings.

Rizieq’s lawyer Kapitra said that his client has met with a UN representative located in Malaysia. Rizieq is planning to file a report for what he calls as an act of criminalization against him by the National Police.
