TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Col. Sujatmiko, head of the counter-propaganda division at the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) said that the agency has identified provocative banners containing insults to state symbol Garuda installed in a university campus.
The posters, saying “My Infidel Garuda”, were installed in a number of spots at the Diponegoro University in Semarang, Central Java.
“This indicates that propaganda efforts have infiltrated campuses,” Sujatmiko said on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
Sujatmiko said that the motive behind the act is still unknown. Campus authorities have already taken down the banners.
The Central Java Police has questioned a number of witnesses regarding the issue. Police face difficulties in finding the perpetrators considering that a large number of people frequently passed the location where the posters were installed.
The Central Java Police have also examined CCTV footages for investigation purposes.
