TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has called on the House of Representatives’ Ethics Council (MKD) to immediately probe House Deputy Speaker Fahri Hamzah in relation to an alleged ethical code violation when leading the plenary session held on April 28, 2017.

The plenary meeting resulted in a decision to exercise the right of inquiry against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

PKS views that Fahri had violated the right of each faction to express their official stance on the matter, by making the decision unilaterally without the consent of every faction. In addition, the party also alleged that Fahri made the decision by blatantly disregarding the rain of interruptions coming from DPR members.

“What the chairman of the plenary session, in this case, Fahri Hamzah, did was reckless and unilateral, and he didn’t listen to what every faction had to say. The decision wasn’t even agreed by every faction,” PKS vice chairman Ansory Siregar said on Thursday, May 18, 2017.

Ansory explained that his faction and PKS members are against the decision to exercise the right inquiry against the KPK.

PKS and Fahri Hamzah is currently in the midst of a conflict considering that PKS last year had sacked Fahri from the party’s membership. Fahri countered the move by filing a lawsuit against the PKS with the South Jakarta District Court.
