Hundreds of Thousands Flock to Blok M for Ennichisai Festival

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 250,000 people enlivened the 2017 Ennichisai Festival in Blok M, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Not only from Jakarta, people outside Jakarta also come to enjoy the festival featuring the blend of Japanese and Betawi cultures.
"Since yesterday until today, 250,000 visitors throng to the festival," said Nursyam Daoed, Head of South Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-dept., Sunday (5/14).
According to him, there are 150 stands with a wide range of knick-knacks, food, and beverages until Japanese snacks.
"It is one of a series of events from various communities which successfully attract the attention of the public to come," he exclaimed.
Yuandri (20), one of the visitors from Serang, Banten admitted he always comes when it is held.
"I came from Serang, Banten by train here. This is interesting, every year I never miss this event," he stressed.
The festival itself lasted until 8 PM.
