TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police spokesperson Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said that his institution is having troubles in cracking the acid attack case against Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan.
Argo admitted that Police has a piece of evidence in the form of video footage. However, Argo claimed that the video footage could not provide leads for investigators.
“The resolution is very low, so we that the picture is not clear,” Argo said in Jakarta today.
According to Argo, the perpetrators were wearing helmets covering their faces, so it is hard to identify them.
Argo revealed that police have questioned witnesses and probed suspected perpetrators. However, they were released since police did not find evidence proving their involvements.
According to Argo, investigators employ two methods in investigating the case.
“An inductive investigation focuses on the crime scene, while a deductive investigation exposes assailant motives,” Argo explained.
Argo admitted that the inductive method has not come into fruition. Therefore, Argo said that police need to employ the deductive method. However, this method is currently not possible since police cannot question Novel yet.
Earlier on April 11, 2017, two unknown assailant attacked Novel when returning home from a mosque. When Novel was walking two men on a motorcycle approached him and attacked novel with acid in his face.
