TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sugito Atmo Prawiro, lawyer of Islamic Defender Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab, views that Jakarta Police’s plan to pick up his client for questioning in relation to phone chats containing pornographic materials was excessive.
According to Sugito, Rizieq will attend the questioning without having to be forced. “There’s no need to be excessive. When he returns to Indonesia, I believe that he is willing to be questioned,” Sugito said today, May 13.
In response to a question related to the second summons, Sugito admitted that he and Rizieq’s family have not received the letter yet.

Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said that the Jakarta Police is planning to pick up Rizieq by force to attend the questioning after FPI leader failed to answer the second summons.
“We have sent the second summons [on May 8] for a questioning on [May] 10. However, [Rizieq] didn’t show up,” Arto said yesterday.
Police sent the first summonses on April 25 for Rizieq and his wife Syarifa Fadhlun Yahya, FPI member Muchsin Alatas, and Firza Husen. However, none of the individuals answered the summonses.
At that time, Rizieq could not attend the questioning due to an urgent matter. After sending the second summons, the Jakarta Police was notified that he was abroad. Argo asserted that the Jakarta Police will pick him up by force as soon as he arrives in Indonesia.
The FPI leader is currently entangled with a case surrounding WhatsApp chats containing pornographic materials between himself and Firza Hussein. Both Firza and Rizieq denied the allegation.
