TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Cyber Media Association (AMSI) condemns the hacking of Tempo.co website with provocative message and picture displayed on the front page as an attempt to pit Tempo against other groups.
“Pitting people against each other not only bothers the website’s management but also the public in general,” said AMSI Chairman Wenseslaus Manggut today, May 12. “The hacking kills the public’s right to access information that is provided by the media.”

Wenseslaus views Tempo.co is a credible media with the right journalism ethics in producing a news. He suggested to any party who wishes to file a complaint regarding the content published by the online portal to process it through the mechanism governed under Press Law No. 40/1999.
Therefore, Wenseslaus urges the police to hunt down and legally process the perpetrator.
The hacking was detected around 24:00 Indonesian Western Time on Wednesday, May 10. The front page of Tempo.co showed a picture of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab and his allies at a rally with a message under it that read “Bebaskan Ahok” (Free Ahok) and “Hacked by Rizieq Syihab.”
