TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta deputy governor-elect Sandiaga Uno said that the Jakarta Bay Reclamation project has been included in the list of topics to be discussed by Anies-Sandi preparatory team ahead of the inauguration.
“[The reclamation project] will be discussed by the Preparatory Team,” Sandiaga said in Jakarta on Thursday, May 11, 2017.
He said that the reclamation project is against the vision and mission stated by Jakarta governor-elect Anies Baswedan. Therefore, Sandiaga said that Anies and he will insist on rejecting the reclamation project.
“We remain committed to rejecting the reclamation project,” Sandiaga reiterated.
According to him, the team has five months to craft their programs and to prepare steps to be taken to reject the reclamation project. Sandiaga revealed that the government will invite them to a discussion related to certain matters, including the reclamation project.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan views that the reclamation project is important to prevent floods in Jakarta. The minister said the Jakarta governor and deputy governor-elect will be held accountable if Jakarta is struck by floods.
Sandiaga refused to respond Luhut’s statement. She said that he respected Luhut as a senior.
“We must respect each other,” said the deputy governor-elect.
