TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Three judges who handed down a two-year prison sentence to inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok in relation to the religious blasphemy case will be promoted. The three judges are Dwiarso Budi Santiarto, Abdul Rosyad, and Jupriyadi.
Attorney General’s Office spokesperson Agung Ridwan Mansyur dismissed a rumor saying that the promotion of the three judges is related to Ahok’s case.
“It has nothing to do with Ahok. The promotion has been discussed in several stages earlier,” Ridwan told Tempo via a text message today, May 11.
Dwiarso will be promoted as a judge of the Denpasar High Court in Bali. In addition, Abdul Rosyad will serve as a judge at the Palu High Court. Lastly, Jupriyadi who previously served as the North Jakarta District Court deputy chairman will lead the Bandung District Court in Bandung.
Ridwan explained that the promotion of three judges was prepared in four stages, starting from data collection from the human resource database until the approval.
“[It took] 3-4 months, depending on the number [of judges to be promoted], the available budget, the need of judges in courts,” he said.
