TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - East Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Comr. Andry Wibowo said that blasphemy convict inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok has been transferred to the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) headquarters in Kelapa Dua, Depok. “He’s been transferred tonight,” he said Wednesday at Cipinang Prison, Jakarta.
The exact time of Ahok’s transfer is still unknown since Journalists had not seen any prisoner transfer vehicle as of early morning.
Cipinang prison head Asep Sutandar said that the transfer was made for security reasons and maintaining prison order. Following Ahok’s detention at Cipinang prison on Tuesday noon, his supporters had continued to flock the premise and shouted demands for his release.
Asep said that prisoners felt uncomfortable with the shouts. Moreover, other visitors were blocked from meeting their family members in the jail.
Ahok was held in Cipinang prison after being sentenced to two years’ jail for blasphemy by the North Jakarta District Court.
