TNI, Police Discover 2 Hectares of Marijuana Plantation in Aceh

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - 006 Nagan Military District Command of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) personnel and Nagan Raya Police found around two hectares of marijuana plantation in Kuto Tengoh village mountain area, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang district, Nagan Raya regency, Aceh province.

As many as 22 TNI personnel along with 12 Nagan Raya Resort Police officers on Saturday noon (29/4) went to the plantation site and set the plantation on the slope of the mount on fire.

"This is due to information from the Nagan Raya residents that there is a marijuana plantation deliberately set up an unknown man in the mountain of Beutong Ateuh Banggalang," 0116/Nagan Military Command Heaf of Staff Mayor Inf. Hastiar Hatta said.

The joint team exerted considerable effort to reach the plantation site by walking and climbing through rough terrain for three hours. At first they found 1 hectare consisting of 500 seedlings and 500 young plants, but then another plantation of one hectare was found close from the first site with 1.000 plants ready to harvest, Hastiar explained.

The joint team has not yet succeeded in finding the owner of the marijuana plantations.
