TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The National Police has set the security status to level 1 ahead of the commemoration of the International Labor Day that will fall on May, 1, 2017.

“Every police precinct will be on high alert to secure the annual labor day rally,” National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Rikwanto said in Jakarta on Friday, April 28, 2017.

According to Rikwanto, labors usually hold a number of activities, including making demands in public. However, other labors in other regions hold social activities or other activities that have a positive impact on their communities.

“Hopefully the celebration and rally will not disrupt the public order or violate the law,” Rikwanto added. “Police personnel must be able to maintain the public order wherever they are, especially in locations concentrated for rallies.”

Police will redirect traffic at a number of roads to anticipate unwanted situations.
