TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - SINTALARAS, an outdoor club from Makassar State University, rallied-up together to clean a large amount of wastes at Mount Bulusaraung in commemorating Earth Day. "This earth day activity is a series of direct applications from SINTALARAS in order to preserve mother-nature," said Ihsan Executive Member of the club, Ihsan, on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
Ihsan explained that the mountain waste cleaning activity also involves a large number of high school students from SISPALA, an outdoor activity club of Makassar's State High School 4.
"This is a positive activity since it's a direct interaction with nature, understanding and enjoying nature’s beauty. Which will then turn into the will to protect the earth," accroding to the Chairman of Makassar's "Forum Komunitas Hijau", Achmad Yusran.
"The mountain cleaning also coincides with the SINTALARAS' generation-regeneration program to produce future environment defenders," Achmad said.
SINTALARAS was established in 1984 and was the only outdoor club or locally known as MAPALA, who represented Indonesian NGO in a community forest training session in Nepal back in 1999.
