TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that Jakarta governor-elect Anies Baswedan has a homework to address mass transportation issues in the Capital.
“Congratulations to the elected governor. But we still have works to finish, which is to provide new mass transportation for the public,” Budi said at Tanjong Priok Port in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Budi called for solid cooperation to complete the project in order to realize prosperity for the people. According to Budi, cheap and comfortable mass transportation modes must be realized so that people will have the best transportation alternatives.
“We hope that there will be more alternatives, such as railway with feeders,” Budi added.
Budi revealed that the first stage of Mass Rapid Transit project development is expected to complete in 2019.
“We will expedite the mass transportation project. We will continue to cooperate to realize this,” Budi added.
Budi explained that Jakarta is the example of a city with complex transportation issues. The government, Budi added, is currently formulating breakthroughs in the field of transportation.
Solid collaboration between the central government and the Jakarta administration, Budi said, is expected to result in maximum efforts. Budi claimed that the Transportation Ministry and the Jakarta administration have been working closely, particularly in the public transportation sector. Therefore, Budi hopes that the new governor will continue to prioritize mass transportation during his terms of office.
