TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned sharia lender PT Bank BNI Syariah reports a 21 percent year-on-year growth in assets in Q1 of 2017. Currently, the bank's assets are valued at Rp29.86 trillion.
BNI Syariah president director Abdullah Firman Wibowo said that the increase in assets was underpinned by 17.83 percent increase in lending and 23.38 percent hike in third party funding on a year-on-year basis.
"Of the total Rp21.26 trillion lending, the largest was consumptive lending at 56.1 percent," Abdullah said on the sidelines of the disclosure of financial statements of BNI Syariah for the first quarter of 2017 in Jakarta on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
Other major contributors include productive lending, particularly for SMEs, at 21.07 percent, commercial lending at 17.73 percent and micro-lending outside consumption at 3.6 percent.
Abdullah said that the company's excellent business performance indicate its sustained lending quality. He pointed to the ratio non-performing loans of 3.16 percent in the first quarter of this year.
In line with the lending growth, third party funding increased by 23.38 percent on a year-on-year basis. In other words, third party funding grew by Rp4.89 trillion with current and saving account ratio at 47.39 percent.
