President Jokowi Meets VP Mike Pence at the Presidential Palace

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo is currently meeting with US Vice President Mike Pence at Indonesia’s Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Both state leaders discussed about a number of strategic partnership between Indonesia and the United States.
“We have discussed a number of bilateral and international issues. Indonesia and the United States are committed to improve our strategic partnership,” Says President Joko Widodo who is better known as President Jokowi, on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
President Jokowi revealed one of the many strategic partnerships that was discussed with Vice President Pence which focuses on the economic climate and investments. It will be discussed in detail by a team that is formed to specially to manage and regulate bilateral trade and investments. “The principle that we put forward is a win-win solution,” President Jokowi revealed.
The matter of global peace preservation was also discussed in the meeting as a form of strategic partnership. This is mainly in response to the current global social situation which has been sparked by the difference in faith and understanding leading to acts of terrorism.
“As a country with the largest Muslim population and the third largest democratic nation, we agreed to strengthen our partnership in preserving peace,” President Jokowi concluded.
